Time for the Holiday Livingroom Hokey Pokey
Tonight I'm rearranging the livingroom to find a place for the small Christmas tree. I almost wasn't going to put it up but decided it would be nice after all. I miss my house. Hopefully, Santa will bring me one next year.

A Brief Dusting
It snowed a bit here today, the first snow of the season. It was just a light dusting and melted, but it was lovely to see it coming down. I decorated my little tree today and am enjoying it with a fire and a glass of wine. For every brother and sister's first Christmas they would get their own set of Christmas ornaments. It is one of the few family heirlooms I have. The ornaments are so old. I have the pink ones from my parent's first year 1946 and each of the kids ranging from 1950 to 1958. They are all different, glass, regular size and fragile. I was the baby born near Christmas so mine are tiny multicoloured glass ones from 1966. I even have the tiny little box they came in. A dozen in a box the size of my palm. It is always a joy to put these fragile memories on the tree each year, a reminder of family and the passage of time.

Credible Work-From-Home Source
Hello, All: I wanted to pass along a link that might be helpful in the job search re: work-from-home jobs www.ratracerebellion.com . It is sort of like indeed.com for telecommuting, however, what makes them different is that I know they cull the links for scam sites before they post. Not to say, there might not be one in there somewhere but it is something worth a look anyway.

25 Feels Like 10
We didn't get any of the snow storm going across the country, but the weather has definitely been wonky. Yesterday, it was almost 60 and got down to 33. Today, it got up to about 37 and now it is 22, according to the Weather Channel, but feels like 10 - I agree. It's been so damp the last few days the chill is the kind that makes your bones ache. It's also been dropping about 30 degrees very rapidly right after sunset. Not uncommon here, but usually happens slower. It took me a week, but I finally got the oom pa pa to finish modestly decorating the mantel for Christmas and I treated myself to a daytime fire. I have two glass multipane cabinet doors from the 1860's approx. 28" x 30" I keep on my mantel and decorate them differently for the season. This year I just bunched up coloured lights behind them and put 8 old Christmas cards in each of the 4 center panes. It's simple, nice and looks good with my tree next to the Georgian style fireplace. That's the extent of the decorations. I wasn't going to decorate at all but decided the coloured lights would raise my spirits a bit. It has. Normally, I listen to Pandora, but it has been glitching lately so I've been enjoying ITunes Holiday Winterscape station. It's sort of new agey smooth jazz but it has been a balm to my rather raw nerves. Saw 2012 last night with my friend, Whit at Cinebarre. The special effects (and John Cusack) were worth the price of admission, but this movie managed to rip off every single disaster movie for the last 30 years. I mean everything from "The Towering Inferno" to "The Perfect Storm." That's ok, I had a lovely time drinking beer and snuggling with Whit. He's so wonderful, I'm lucky to have him and Michael in my life. Yesterday, I caught up all of the potential resume sends and a headhunter contacted me. He got my resume off of Career Builder and wanted me to interview as a Research and Development Administrator on Long Island. I would love a job like that but I'm committed to not moving away and certainly not to New York. I told him if he can find something like that here, I'm all over it. He said that NC was out of his zone but my talents were so strong he was going to try. I took that as good news. Anyone who can help has got my vote. The Geneid Meteor Shower is this Sunday. This is the most dramatic one and I'm looking forward to it. More chances to see shooting stars and more chances to make a wish!

Glorious Snow!
There is the most beautiful snow on today! We're scheduled for 10". Looking out the window it's like living in a snowglobe. Everything is coated in white crystalline flakes. My apartment looks up the mountain through a forest and it is just this side of heaven. I have the Christmas tree on and a fire lit, wonderful coffee made and 1940's swing music on LOUD. Today,I'm making Christmas cookies and homemade turkey soup. Possibly make some homemade bread as well, which I haven't done in ages. Once I get the soup on, I'm taking a loong walk and enjoying every minute of it. I live very close to a shopping district so I might go down there and look around the organic grocery. My whole life I've loved the snow. Somehow there is hope and life and purity in the serenity of falling snow. It feels like a promise from a loving friend.

You Asked For It, You Got It!
It's now Sunday and I've been snowed in alone for 3 days and probably 2 more. It was snowing lightly again this morning when I woke up. Now, I'm a nut for snow, but I'm starting to get isolated monkey disease real bad. Thank the stars I have Spooky Kitty, it is nice to have someone living with me. There are currently 43,000 people without power in Buncombe county, I'm definitely one of the lucky ones. Today, I'm washing my hair and scrubbing down the apartment. It's starting to feel more like a lair in here than a home. I want to make sure I get those details taken care of in case the power goes out here, God forbid. I get paid on Tuesday and I sure hope I can get out, I still have to buy Christmas presents. Going over to my sister Donna's for Christmas in Hendersonville. The plan is to take her to her church for Christmas Eve service then going to Highland Lake Inn for dinner. Spending the night then Christmas Day. She has kindly invited Spooky Kitty to come and, given the weather, I'm taking her. She'll hate the drive, but I think she'll enjoy being somewhere different for a little while. We are supposed to get wintry mix on Christmas Eve, so all plans are mutable, but it will be nice to be around people for awhile. I did very well on my interview and they have invited me back for a 2nd interview with the President and VP of the company after the holidays! Hurray! Please keep your fingers crossed for me. I am sooo thankful I studied up on the company, controller processes and Microsoft Project before the interview because they grilled me on everything. I can see how there is no way someone would make it through if they didn't really know this stuff. They also grilled me on Customer Service and team management, ~WHEW~. It seems like a nice company and very serious about their product. After being in marketing for 11 years, it is so weird that I keep getting pulled back into the computer world. But, hey, if the Universe wants me to be there and I have the skills, then so be it. I'm just so very grateful to be given the opportunity.
